Winter is full of science! Join RCI Science and Waterloo Public Library in this family fun exploration of ice, snow and everything frozen. Featuring a family-friendly science talk, exciting hands on experiments and a free community skate there will be lots of fun for everyone.
3:00 - 3:30 PM - Talk (appropriate for ages 9 and up)
Corina McDonald, Science Curator of the University of Waterloo’s Earth Sciences Museum, provides a family-friendly science talk about snowflakes and shows us how to make snowflake fossils.
Fossils usually take hundreds of thousands of years to form, but not snowflake fossils! Learn about these wonderful minerals that fall from the sky and how you can ‘fossilize’ them at home.

Microscopes - Discover the power of microscopes and get a closer view of everyday objects in incredible detail!
Cloud in a Bottle - Learn about the science of pressure and watch our scientists magically make clouds appear!
4:00 - 5.00 pm - Open skate sponsored by RCIScience.
