Cosmologist Prof. Renée Hložek explains dark matter and dark energy, outlines the evidence for these two very different yet critical parts of the cosmos, and shows us how powerful new telescopes are unveiling the secrets of the universe. About the Speaker

Renée Hložek is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, where she studies a variety of problems in theoretical and observational cosmology. Her research focuses on understanding what the Universe is made of, its structure and how it is changing with time. She uses data from the Atacama Cosmology Telescope and is looking forward to using data from two upcoming telescopes: the Simons Observatory and the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, both of which are located in the Chilean desert.
