The Royal Canadian Institute for Science (RCIScience) is delighted to welcome Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, as our Honorary Patron
As Canada’s longest-running public, scientific society, RCIScience applauded Her Excellency’s appointment to the role of Governor General. Her Excellency’s work as a scientist and astronaut has inspired Canadians and others around the globe to follow their love of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
In forming the Canadian Institute for Science, Sir Sandford Fleming believed it would, “do great good to my adopted country.” Since 1849, we have worked towards a goal of an informed public that embraces science to build a stronger Canada. The Institute received a Royal Charter from Queen Victoria in 1851 and became the Royal Canadian Institute.
RCIScience could not be more pleased to welcome an Honorary Patron whose distinguished career and work in the promotion of science and technology aligns so closely with our vision for Canada
